Rotherfield Primary School is introducing the role of Digital Leaders to our school!

The role is specifically made to create future experts in computing and digital technology but will also emphasise skills such as: leadership, organisation and communication.

Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • Trialling new software and websites, then demonstrating them to other children and teachers.
  • Possibly attending events to share new computing technology.
  • Helping set up equipment in classrooms for teachers to use with their classes.

There will be 1 Digital Leader from each class, from Years 1 to Year 6.

We believe in giving all children a chance to discover technology and all the possibilities it brings with it. It is crucial that all pupils gain the confidence and skills which they need in this subject to prepare them for the challenges of a rapidly developing and changing technological world. We are ready for the 2014 Computing Curriculum and already have many opportunities to develop coding skills.

"I love doing Scratch and programming a dancer to do hip hop" - Year 3 child.

We have 60 laptops that are used in classrooms to give children access to technology in all areas of the curriculum. Rotherfield is also equipped with 10 iPads as well as 30 Nintendo D.S's used to develop mental math skills.  Children enjoy regularly blogging and podcasting on our website - find them under the Children tab.

"It's great that I get a lap top all to myself. I think Purple Mash has really helped my literacy and it's fun!" - Year 5 child.

Some fantastic websites the children can access are:

http://www.purplemash.com/#/home

https://idp3.lgfl.org.uk/idp/Authn/UserPassword

http://www.lgfl.net/Pages/Content-Grid.aspx?click-source=content-overview

All of these require your child's LGFL username and password to log in. They can be found in the front of their Reading Record.
