Cooking

At Rotherfield, we are proud to have been one of the pilot schools in the 'Jamie Oliver Kitchen Garden Project'.

We teach children about food - what it is, where it comes from, and how it affects their bodies - and equip them with valuable skills for life.  Children partake in core cookery lessons, developing fundamental knowledge and skills which provide excellent opportunities to expand classroom learning. Our fully trained teaching assistants take small group cooking lessons, and enable every child to have at least 3 quality cooking lessons over the course of the school year.

Our Edible Playground complements our Curriculum Kitchen and allows children to see the full cycle of growing food from seed to preparing meals from scratch.

Year 4 making tomato and basil pasta.

Food Revolution Day

The children had a fantastic time celebrating Food Revolution Day by making bircher muesli. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who lent their cooking utensils on the day. It was a great success!
