At Rotherfield we believe physical activity is vital to the development of the pupil as a whole. It contributes to the pupils’ physical, emotional, mental, intellectual and social development and well-being. We believe physical activity enables pupils to develop confidence and provides opportunities for them to work individually, in a group and learn from their experiences.
“In PE you do three star jumps, running, skipping, walking and hopping. It’s fun!” – Nursery child.
“Fun activities warm us up. We’ve played hockey, football, basketball. I’ve enjoyed dancing like penguins in Antarctica.” – Year 3 child referring back to a previous dance topic.
“PE is really fun. We all enjoy it because it’s always something we’ve never done before. We learn new things. The teacher works hard to set up good games. It’s always fair teams.” – Year 5 child.
Children from a variety of year groups have been involved in a range of sporting competitions throughout the academic year, as well as on-going football fixtures as part of the Future Zone partnership.
Our school has taken full advantage of community links to the school, with the children experiencing taster sessions in handball and netball. The children have also had several sessions working with coaches from Arsenal in the Community, Gaelic football and University College London students.
Rotherfield offers many after school clubs for your child to participate in. Please see the School Clubs page or ask in the School Office for further information.
