What is a Rights Respecting School?

    The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievements in putting the United Nations Convention on

    the rights of the Child (CRC) and at the heart of a school's planning, policies, practice and ethos.  A Rights Respecting

    school not only teaches about Children's rights but also models rights and respects in all relationships: between

    teachers/adults and pupils.

    We believe that being a Right Respecting school supports a rich learning environment that places the best interests

    of the Child at the heart of all our policy and practice.  Our aim is for these values to underpin our school values

    and ethos.  Throughout the year we will be promoting these values through our everyday teaching, assemblies and

    various events, and we will keep you posted as and when these occur.

  Rights Champions 2016/17

Each class has a selected Rights Champion who will go to a termly steering group meeting, along with some teachers from different phases of the school.  In these meetings, they will decide on the next steps for the school to achieve the award. A key part of the initiative is that the children are central in the decision making process and that they are active campaigners for rights on the local to the global stage.

  July 2016 DAY FOR CHANGE 2016

  Here are some of the photos from "Day for Change" when the children raised money for Unicef by bringing in any loose change they could find around their houses. They also paid £1 to dress up in an outfit that reflected one of the 42 articles of their rights. We had great fun in the play ground lining up our coins to see which class had the longest line!
